It’s Official

23 09 2007

This afternoon we had our first official Fourte rehearsal. Although, admittedly, we didn’t really get much rehearsing done we did sort out what we all expect from the group and what we want to get out of it. We will definitely be getting together a repertoire of Carols for Christmas. This is a great opportunity for us to sing some easier music that we know a little already and get used to singing with each other. It’s also an easy way to get a bit of exposure by busking around Nelson. So it’s official – we are Fourte.

We are Fourte, a madrigal group formed from members of Waimea College’s Belle a Cappella. We consist of four voices (hence our name): Cleo Smith (soprano), Nikki Prokop (alto), Josh Stewart (tenor) and Ewan Coldicott (bass). Our name was an inspired idea of Josh’s who came up with it on the six hour bus trip returning from The Big Sing in Christchurch. Mostly, we’re about having a good time and enjoying the musicAlthough this is a new group, we are starting to get a repertoire together and will soon be on the Nelson Streets, caroling these christmas holidays so keep an eye out for us.
